Jeanene Jarvie - Murphy
Artistic Director

Jeanene began dancing at the age of 3. She started with the Lionville School of
Dance where her mother was an instructor. At
10 she was sent to Academy of the Dance in Wilmington, Delaware to study under
James Jamieson and Victor Wesley. At 15, Jeanene was asked to stay on as a
member of the Boston Ballet apprentice program after attending a 7-week summer
intensive. There she performed over
50 performances of the Nutcracker and began touring with the company.
After only 3 years, Jeanene became a full member of the Boston Ballet.
She later joined the Washington Ballet, where
as a principal dancer, touring in France, England, Spain Portugal and
South Africa. Jeanene performed leading roles and worked with many great choreographer's
including the great works of George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp,
Bruce Marks, Mark Morris and Ben Stevenson. In 1998 she performed in a ballet
“Savanna” that was choreographed by
Ntsikelelo Cekwana specifically for her, where the New York Times hailed her
as "one of the program's discoveries.”
After a long and rewarding career Jeanene returned home to give back what
she had learned in her years as a performer.
She is now the Artistic Director of Lionville School of Dance as well as
the Producer and primary choreographer of the studio’s annual Nutcracker.
Kathy Rocca-Mallek
Dance Team Director
Kathy began her training at the NJ School of Ballet at the age of 4 and
continued on through Broadway Dance Center in NYC, Montclair State University
and the NJ Tap Ensemble. In high
school, her performances included “Babes
in Arms,” “Anything Goes!” and “Godspell.” She went on to perform as the Tap
Captain for Liza Minelli’s “A Liberty
Celebration” as well as performances with the Pointer Sisters and Liberace.
Kathy was the Owner/Director of Katherine Rocca Performing Arts Company
where she won Best Choreography awards at several regional competitions.
Kathy also directed the preschool
program and lent her award-winning choreography to the tap team at Nicole’s
Broadway Dance. She is associated with the NJ Dance Teachers and a member of the
National Association of Dance and a former Vice President of the New York
Chapter. Kathy is a Platinum Award
winning choreographer here at Lionville and continues to instruct Tap using
Broadway styles with a twist of funk!
Sean Murphy

Ballet / Pointe
Sean received his Ballet training at the Washington School of Ballet. He was a
member of the Boston Ballet, Washington Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre
in New York City. He has been trained by some of ballets most prestigious
teachers. Performing throughout Europe,
Asia, South America and Russia.
Lucy Solinsky

Modern, Jazz, Ballet / Tap and Hip - Hop
Lucy began her dance career at Lionville School of Dance at age 10, studying
Ballet. Through the generosity of LSOD Lucy was able to expand her dance world
to the areas of Jazz, Lyrical and Tap when she was awarded the LSOD dance
scholarship. At Downingtown High School Lucy
was awarded the Modern Dance Award. Lucy earned
her BA in Dance at Marymount Manhattan College in New
York City and graduated Cum Laude in 2005. Since returning to the
Pennsylvania area Lucy has preformed in the
“Philadelphia Fringe Festival in HerStory”
and is pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the LSOD family that has
given her so much. Lucy enjoys bringing something a little different to the
table with Modern dance influences like
Paul Taylor, Martha
Graham, Pearl Primus, and
Katherine Dunham. She also takes pride in her
work with some of the studios youngest dancers helping them explore and enjoy
movement as much as she does.
MeredithReffner
Ballet, Pointe and Variations
Meredith Reffner, a native of Annapolis, Maryland,
has studied at the Washington School of Ballet, The School of
American Ballet and the Chautauqua Institution. Ms. Reffner received
recognition for her dance studies by being named a Maryland
Distinguished Scholar, Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and
receiving a Level One Award from the National Foundation for the
Advancement of the Arts.
Ms. Reffner danced with the Washington Ballet for
one season where she participated in the 25th Anniversary
Celebration of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
She was a member of the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet for four seasons
and performed with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Some of Ms. Reffner’s
featured roles include the Siren from The Prodigal Son,
Emeralds from Jewels, and the Second Aria from Stravinsky Violin Concerto.
She performed with Pennsylvania Ballet as a guest artist in A
Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, and George Balanchine’s
The Nutcracker.
She joined the Company as a member of the Corps de
Ballet in August 2001. Since then, she has been featured in John
Butler’s Carmina Burana, Peter Martins’ Fearful
Symmetries, Jose Limón’s The Moor’s Pavane, and
Christopher Wheeldon’s Swan Lake, among others. Ms. Reffner
is the proud mother of Lorelei Clarice Callender who was born
September 15, 2006.
Christine Swarm-Kusnierczyk

Hip-hop
Mrs. Swarm-Kusnierczyk attended the West Chester University as a
Physical Fitness Major and dance minor. Also
has taken classes at the University of the Arts,
as well as numerous teacher's workshops and conventions such as Star Power,
Stepp Stewart, Gus
Giordano Jazz Conferences to keep up with her dance training. She
was the dance Program Coordinator/Director for Body Quest Fitness and Dance
Center for 7 years. While being dance director, her students successfully
auditioned and performed in Walt Disney World (Florida),
Princess Cruise Lines, as well as numerous area
mall performances. She has performed professionally with Barley Sheaf Playhouse,
Forge Theatre, and WCOJ Cable.
Jennifer Kline
Jennifer Kline, teacher and choreographer, has been
dancing since the young age of 4. She studied dance at a Broomall, Pennsylvania
studio where she took jazz, tap, ballet, and hip hop. She started student
teaching at the age of 14, getting her own classes at the age of 18. She has
since taught jazz, hip hop and contemporary, directed hip hop programs, taught
hip hop at Temple University, was a member of the Drexel University Dance Team
and Dance Ensemble and choreographed for collegiate dance teams where her pieces
have been ranked top 5 in the nation for two years and top 10 in the nation for
3. She has studied from many master choreographers and dancers such as
Dave Scott, Napoleon D’Umo, Chuck Maldonado, Geo Hubela, Dena Rizzo and Darrin
Henson and continues to take master classes today as she brings the most updated
styles to her students.
