Dance Styles

We are proud to offer a wide variety of dance styles for our students.  Our professional and nurturing staff provides incredible instruction for all ages.  Read on to see the different styles we offer and what to expect in your first class!

Ballet/Pointe

Ballet focuses on ballet positions, steps and vocabulary. Dancers will focus on body awareness, alignment and proper posture. Dancing on pointe is an advanced ballet technique where dancers wear special shoes with a hard toe box that allows them to balance on the tips of their toes.

Jazz

Jazz dance is an energetic and dynamic form of dance.  It is characterized by its syncopated rhythms and improvisational nature, drawing on a variety of cultural influences.

Lyrical

Lyrical is characterized by fluid, graceful movements that often tell a story or convey emotion. Lyrical dancers often perform to music with lyrics, and they use their movements to interpret the lyrics and express the song's meaning.

Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance that involves rhythmically tapping one's feet on the floor to create a percussive sound. Dancers emphasize the rhythm of the music by tapping out beats with their feet, often incorporating intricate footwork and improvisation.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance focuses on the expression of emotion and the use of improvisation. It is often performed to contemporary music and features a wide range of movement styles.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is characterized by its energetic, rhythmic movements and its focus on self-expression and improvisation. Hip hop dancing incorporates a variety of styles, including breaking, popping, locking, and krumping.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre dance combines a variety of dance styles and uses acting, singing, dancing, and dialogues to convey a story.

Dance Attire

We strive to provide an inclusive and safe environment for all our dancers. Generally, you should wear form-fitting dance wear (i.e. leotard, tights, leggings, t-shirts/tank tops) in neutral colors (black, white, skin tone, pink). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information or ask your dance teacher!
